K12 Artists-in-Training Create Murals for the Wright-Dunbar Business VillageAngel Window Paint
Dayton-Student artists from the K12 Gallery for Young People have designed and created an 11 panel mural for the Wright-Dunbar Business Village. For the last two months, students have created brightly painted images of turn-of-the-century Dayton. Streetcars, a ragtime piano player, women in big hats, and Model T's appear in vibrant colors across the 5x5 panels. The temporary mural will enliven a currently vacant building at 1031-45 W. Third Street, the corner of Williams and W. Third Street.

The students are placing the finishing touches on the mural this week at the K12 Gallery and the dedication will take place Thursday, March 11 at 4:00pm at the corner of Williams and W. Third Street. A reception will follow in the Wright-Dunbar Interpretive Center. The dedication and reception are open to the public.

"So often, people are giving to us as a non-profit organization. This has been a unique opportunity for K12 students to give to others and use their artistic skill as a community service," said Jerri Stanard, Executive Director of K12 Gallery for Young People.

Wright-Dunbar, Inc. is pleased to have the mural in the Wright-Dunbar Business Village. As the organization that is leading the revitalization efforts in the W. Third Street Historic District, Wright Dunbar, Inc. works to recruit sustainable business to the Wright Dunbar Business Village.

"This has been a winning partnership with the creativity of the student artists celebrating the historical innovation of the area. We are honored to have the mural in the Wright-Dunbar Business Village," said John E. Moore, Jr. Executive Director of Wright Dunbar, Inc.
