National Park Service 'Speaker's Series' to Feature Tuskegee Airman
Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park in conjunction with the Engineers Club of Dayton is pleased to present Lieutenant Colonel C.I. Williams, USAF (retired) as a guest speaker on Thursday, March 25 at 7:00 pm. The title of his presentation is "The Tuskegee Airmen: A Brief History." A reception at the Engineers Club will follow.
In 1941, C. I. Williams withdrew from the University of California to accept an appointment to the Aviation Cadet Flying Training Program at Tuskegee Institute, Alabama. After successfully completing the rigorous ten month training program, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Corps as a fighter pilot. He was then assigned to the newly activated 302nd Fighter Squadron, 332nd Fighter Group at Selfridge Field, Michigan. Lt. Colonel Williams retired from the United States Air Force after 23 years of honorable service in 1966. Today, he is involved in the Tuskegee Airmen Incorporated, Ohio Chapter, and a Trustee of the National Aviation Hall of Fame, Dayton.
The Speakers Series is designed to offer the public a variety of knowledgeable speakers addressing topics related to aviation history through engaging discussion and often first-hand accounts. The Engineers Club is located at 110 East Monument Avenue, Dayton. This event is free and open to the public and seating is on a first come, first served basis.
