Wright Dunbar Village Business Hosts Local High School Students
Local village business owner and internationally acclaimed artist, Willis "Bing" Davis conducted a presentation and art workshop for students from Trotwood Madison High School at his art studio located in the Wright-Dunbar Business Village.
The group was comprised of 62 high school and art club students studying African American History in a course "I, Too, Sing America", inspired and developed by "Teacher of the Year 2002" award winner Monica Houston. Mr. Davis has served as a lecturer in previous classes, but was inspired to bring the students to his art studio for enhanced learning.
The students participated in a lecture and presentation from Mr. Davis on African Kings, and the influence of African culture on African Americans. They were also able to make jewelry and various other items of adornment from 'found' objects provided by Mr. Davis.
