YMCA to Open a Neighborhood Development Center in the Wright-Dunbar Village

The YMCA will open a Neighborhood Development Center in the Wright-Dunbar Village as part of the 'New Opportunities Campaign' to bring YMCA programs and facilities closer to children and families throughout the Dayton community. The Wright-Dunbar YMCA Neighborhood Development Center will be located in the historic Hoersting-Holtman building in the heart of the Wright-Dunbar Village just east of the Willis 'Bing' Davis Studio and EbonNia Gallery. The Center is scheduled to open in fall of 2006 and will feature aerobics rooms, stationary equipment, free weights, locker rooms and a multi-purpose area.

We are thrilled to have the YMCA join us in the Wright-Dunbar Village. Their commitment to healthy families fits perfectly with our vision for the Village and will complement existing business such as the Pri-Med Physicians Office, the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park, Smokin' Joe's and Subway Sandwiches.

The neighborhood centers will expand and develop YMCA programs to the east and west Dayton communities. Each of the centers will be established in partnership with neighborhood organizations and other not-for-profit agencies with similar goals and objectives.

The Mathile Family Foundation has generously made a pacesetting gift of $1M to launch this important initiative. A total of $2.2M has been committed or raised for the YMCA 'New Opportunities Campaign.'

"Every child deserves to have access to a YMCA! Our goal is to serve children throughout the Dayton community. This campaign is meant to help us expand much needed programs and services. Thanks to the Mathile Family Foundation and others, we can continue to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities," said Tim Helm, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.
