WDI Winner of 2011 Better Business Bureau Eclipse Integrity Award
May 10th, 2011The Better Business Bureau announced that Wright Dunbar, Inc. was a winner of the 2011 Eclipse Integrity Award in the nonprofit category. The award is given to Miami Valley businesses and nonprofits who model ethics, honesty and integrity for the community. The winners were announced on Tuesday, May 10th at the annual BBB awards dinner held at the David H. Ponitz Sinclair Center.
Wright Dunbar, Inc. Awarded Jewels of the Gem City Recognition
April 4th, 2011The Women’s Club of Dayton Foundation, Friends of the Dayton Arcade, and the Engineers Club of Dayton Foundation has selected Wright Dunbar, Inc. as one of the newest Jewels of the Gem City recognizing the organizations historical preservation efforts. Wright Dubar, Inc. will be formally recognized during a ceremony on Friday, June 3rd at 6pm at the Engineers Club of Dayton.
Clean Ohio Funds Approved for former West Side Chevy Building
April 1st, 2011The State Controlling Board recently approved use of Clean Ohio Funds to conduct environmental studies at the former West Side Chevy building located at 800 West Third Street. Wright Dunbar Inc. looks to further develop this location once the studies are complete.

Wright Dunbar Awarded FACT Grant
November 23rd, 2010Wright Dunbar was the recepient of a grant from the Federation of American Consumers and Travelers for use in our planter program.

June 16th, 2010Five new honorees will take their place in history alongside the 120 Miami Valley greats honored on the Walk of Fame. The 2010 class of inductees are Annae Barney Gorman, Daniel Mikesell, Dr. David Ponitz, Betty Schmoll, and the Gem City Sweet Adelines.
ANNAE BARNEY GORMAN (1862 1938) Ms. Gorman was a civic and business leader. She was the founder of Barney Community Center, now known as Children’s Medical Center of Dayton. She also helped to create the Dayton Woman’s Club.
DANIEL W. MIKESELL (1883 1965) Mr. Mikesell was a business and community leader. He was the founder of the Mike-Sell’s Potato Chip Company, now the oldest potato chip manufacturer in the U.S., and is still headquartered in Dayton Ohio.
DAVID PONITZ (1931) Dr. Ponitz is a leader in the field of higher education and provides outstanding service to the community. He is President Emeritus of Sinclair Community College, and is a founding member of Miami Valley Research Park.
BETTY SCHMOLL (1936) is a humanitarian and highly successful leader who founded the Hospice of Dayton, one of the first in the U.S. Ms. Schmoll also served as its first president.
GEM CITY SWEET ADELINES (1970) is an organization of over 120 women that sing barbershop harmony. The Gem City Chorus has been crowned “Queens of Harmony”, has won five first place international titles at the World Competitions, and five second place titles in International Competitions.

Wright Dunbar, Inc. mourns the passing of Trustee Norma J. Ross
May 3rd, 2010Norma Ross, a long time friend and supporter of Wright Dunbar, Inc. passed away on April 23. Ms. Ross’s involvement in community service was extensive and we are especially grateful to have been the benefactor of her wisdom, dedication and passion as a member of the Wright Dunbar, Inc. Board of Trustees.
Ms. Ross was president of Bob Ross Buick, GMC, and Ross Motor Cars Mercedes-Benz and was the recipient of numerous awards. Prior to her career in the auto industry, she was a classroom teacher and a curriculum consultant in the Dayton Public School system.
We will miss her warm and caring spirit.

November 24th, 2009Reflecting the credible historic neighborhood that is in the process of being transformed, the illustrative Wright-Dunbar Business District logo highlights several of the significant buildings on West Third Street and uses bright accent colors to represent the fresh breathe of life of the community in transition. The logotype “Wright-Dunbar” is formed from authentic signatures from the records of the neighborhood’s namesakes celebrating the visions of three of its most famous residents. The positioning statement, “Live the Legacy” exclaims the positive activity happening today and bright visions of tomorrow for this neighborhood rich in heritage.
