The Walk of Fame

2003 Walk of Fame Induction Ceremony

The public gathered to celebrate the induction of 8 famous individuals to the Walk of Fame. The Walk of Fame recognizes people who are either from the Miami Valley or have spent a significant amount of time here. Individuals on the Walk of Fame have made important contributions in their fields of expertise and/or the community as a whole.

Special thanks to this year's Walk of Fame sponsors, Cox Ohio Publishing, the Dayton Foundation, the Dayton Bar Association, and Fifth Third Bank. The following individuals were honored in this year's ceremony:

• Lester Cecil (1893-1982) Judge
• Ritter Collett (1921-2001) Sports writer
• Major Don Gentile (1920-1951) World War II Flying Ace
• Jacob Joyce (1823-1905) Inventor
• Neal Loving (1916-1998) Aviator
• John McMahon (1833-1923) Attorney
• John Moore, Sr. (1923-) Community leader
• Roz Young (1912-) Writer and teacher
